PISFCC President: Cynthia Houniuhi Speaks at Talbot Oration

PISFCC is proud to announce that our president, Cynthia Houniuhi, delivered a powerful keynote at the prestigious Talbot Oration, hosted by the Australian Museum in Sydney on June 5, 2024.

Cynthia's inspiring speech focused on the Climate Advisory Opinion from the International Court of Justice (#ClimateICJAO) and the hopeful future it promises for generations to come. 

She highlighted the unique challenges faced by the Pacific Islands due to climate change and emphasised the urgent need for global action. Her vision reinforced PISFCC's commitment to climate advocacy, the #ClimateICJAO campaign, and youth empowerment. Cynthia's speech also shed light on the campaign’s main goals: linking human rights to climate change and clarifying states' obligations under international law. 

Her strength and dedication as a woman in climate advocacy inspire the Pacific community, and her participation in the Talbot Oration underscores our collective hope for a brighter future despite the adversities we face.

The event featured an insightful interview with Cynthia conducted by renowned reporter Narelda Jacobs. The interview delved into the #ClimateICJAO campaign, highlighting the resilience and aspirations of the Pacific Island communities.
